Hiking in Rifle Colorado

Fuel up with our complimentary “Super Start” breakfast and then hit the trails. Rifle offers a wide variety of hiking trails that suit any skill or endurance level.

One of the best hikes near Rifle is the Rifle Arch Trail. This trail starts from a parking pull-out off of Highway 13, just north of town. The trail winds its way through sagebrush flats and pinion and juniper lined ravines to the base of the Rifle Arch. Scramble up the hill to the arch for majestic vistas of the Roan Cliffs framed by the arch itself. Allow at least 2.5 hours round trip.

Local parks are also a great place for hiking. Take a leisurely stroll around Lions Pond or discover geological wonders on Koper's Trail in Rifle Mountain Park. Rifle Falls State Park offers beautiful trails, as well, that feature not only the waterfalls themselves but also limestone caves.

If you are feeling a little more adventurous, the White River National Forest awaits you. The hiking choices in this amazing forest are endless and varied. A great place to go for more hiking information is the Rifle Information Center located at Lions Pond. From the Super 8, turn east (right) on South Seventh Street and then turn North (left) at the roundabouts. Continue going north through the roundabouts and turn left before crossing the Colorado River into the Rifle Rest Area. The Information Center is just a short drive away.
